"I believe change rarely comes through shame, pressure, or trying harder alone. Often it begins with understanding what has been carried, what has been protected, and what may be ready to shift."

Meet Alfred

I'm glad you're here. My professional journey hasn't been a straight line. Before establishing Alfred Yau Therapy, I navigated the corporate world and the entrepreneurial world as a business owner and franchisee. Because of this, I have a firsthand understanding of the invisible pressures of balancing high standards, career demands, and personal well-being.

I am particularly interested in helping individuals navigate perfectionism, the relentless inner critic, and the exhaustion of appearing functional on the outside while feeling emotionally stuck or disconnected on the inside. Whether you are facing life transitions, burnout, or the heavy weight of self-criticism, therapy should reflect your unique story.

My Approach

Therapy with me tends to be practical, direct, and grounded. We may work on immediate tools to manage stress or difficult emotions while also exploring the long-standing patterns and ways of coping that have developed over time. The work extends beyond symptom reduction; it is about finding clarity, understanding your internal parts, and creating resilient connections.

Outside the therapy room, I am deeply committed to physical movement. Whether I am playing tennis, road cycling, or exploring outdoor hiking trails, I rely on movement and nature to stay grounded. I bring this active, whole-person perspective into my clinical work, recognizing that mind and body are intrinsically connected.
